The Use of Computers

Computer is a mechanical device that accepts data as input and processes same as information.In other words when data is processed it becomes information.The computer has many component parts which include the VDU-Visual Display Unit,which of course is the monitor, the mother board, the UPS [ uninterrupted power supply],the mouse,the CPU[Central Processing Unit],and the printer.The VDU as the name implies is the monitor and it displays your work for people to see.For instance in Microsoft Word, the displayed environment where you type your document makes it possible for people to see the soft copy of what you type.It is an important part of the computer.
The Mother Board houses the memory capacity of the computer.This is an important part of the CPU.The CPU contains the memory and the Arithmetic Logic Unit [A L U]

The function of the mouse is to send data into the computer. It is an input device that sends data into the computer.The keyboard is also an input device that sends data into the computer.The Scanner is another component part of the computer.It is also an input device that traces or x-rays pictures,certificates or any other document into the computer in its original form. This can be used to send your original picture to your friend in the internet.All these input devices send data into the computer; and the data so keyed in can be printed out as hard copy.

This brings us to another component part of the computer called the Printer.The printer is an output device as explained above.All the data keyed in into the computer can be printed out as a hard copy using the printer.
